Various previously published articles and book chapters written by Dr. An-Na’im will be highlighted in rotation as “Featured Publications” on the homepage, and presented as blog posts, in order to explore and clarify various aspects of the Islamic imperative of a secular state. The articles and book chapters to be rotated in this manner are all available under the “About” section of this website, and are featured in these ways to trace the evolution of my own thinking as a Muslim around these issues. I came to the position I am now advocating through a personal struggle and process of trial and error, and not as a result of simplistic mimicking of western liberal thought.
