As Emory’s Department of African American Studies welcomes Dr. Erica Armstrong Dunbar’s this Fall; her co-executive produced show, HBO Max’s “The Gilded Age” picked up six Emmy Nominations ahead of the September 15th ceremony.

Her work will continue on “The Gilded Age” as it enters production on its third season. A historical drama set in the 1880s, “The Gilded Age” saw Dr. Dunbar acting as a historical consultant for the series in 2019, helping to curate authentic Black representation and historical accuracy. In September 2020, her role became co-executive producer. Dr. Dunbar was invited to join the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (the Television Academy) an honorary organization dedicated to the advancement of the television industry in the United States.
“The Gilded Age” Season 3 is in production and began filming in July.
