Dove’s Counter-AI as Advertisement

I recently came across this video which I found quite interesting, in the way that it uses AI in order to promote it’s product, but in a way that is quite atypical.

Soap and beauty company Dove published this ad just over a week ago (and I was hoping nobody would post it). The ad takes a stance against the use of AI in the advertisement of beauty. This is commendable in the sense that we might preserve the image of beauty as expansive and not stereotyped by the generations of AI-generated content. Dove also toots their own horn, highlighting their ability to hire more than thin able-bodied blonde white women. At the same time, however, it preys on the general fear of AI’s impending doom problems.

But I don’t know. This seems like a good thing, for Dove. And a pretty decent marketing stunt.
