Shortly upon arrival at Sweet Auburn Avenue, Professor Stutz introduced us to the area and explained the course of the day.
A small row of shotgun houses. These were unique houses that were typical for the area. We saw other unique buildings like the Ebenezer Baptist church and the former Peacock club.
One of our classmates explained to us the background of the houses in the area. He also explained to us how these types of housing may have affected the community in comparison to modern flats. Every student spoke about a different building on the Avenue.
We passed the old Ebenezer Baptist Church, well known for where Martin Luther King Jr. used to preach his sermons. Across the road is the new church which is used in place of the old church.
An abandoned road on Auburn Avenue with what appeared to be graffiti on the side. There were a significant number of abandoned buildings on the Avenue.
