Developed powerful methods to combine aspects of Transition State Theory with reduced dimensionality quantum scattering treatment of reaction dynamics. Citations of two reviews of this work total 428 to date.<\/p>\n<p>2. Variational theory and software for molecular vibrations (especially vibrational self-consistent-field theory) and the &#8220;n-mode&#8221; representation of the potential, implemented in the code and the MULTIMODE. Citations of four key papers of this work total 759 to date.<\/p>\n<p>3. Ab initio-based potential energy surfaces in high dimensionality using permutationally invariant fitting basis. Highlights of this work include a potential surface for CH<sub>5<\/sub><sup>+<\/sup>, the water dimer, the protonated water dimer, etc., described in<em> Science<\/em> and <em>Chemical and Engineering News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>4. The discovery of &#8220;roaming dynamics\u201d in joint theoretical experimental study of photo dissociation of formaldehyde; research described in a <em>Science<\/em> article.
