About Cate Risener

I am a 4th year PhD Candidate at Emory University in the Molecular and Systems Pharmacology program. Currently, I am in the Quave Research Group utilizing a one of a kind natural product library as a screen to discover novel antiviral compounds active against SARS-CoV-2.

I am passionate about mentoring and teaching. In the lab, I currently mentor four undergraduate students and I occasionally train medical research fellows, visiting scholars, and rotation graduate students. Outside of the lab, I one-on-one meet with junior graduate students to help them succeed in their first year classes, and in the second year I help prepare them for their qualifying exams.

I am interested in a career with a heavy emphasis on teaching and mentoring. I have experience teaching undergraduate and masters students, but I am now developing my skills to be applicable to medical education of pharmacology.
