Instructure will release updates to our Canvas environment Saturday, May 11, 2019. Notable changes in this release include:
- Teachers see a simpler interface with four options to set file states: publish, unpublish, not visible in student files, schedule student availability. (The last two options used to appear under an umbrella of Restricted Access. Now they are top-level options with their own icons.) All four states have distinctive icons that appear next to files in the Files and Modules tools.
- Teachers in classes using the New Gradebook and Override Final Grades see the override grade in Student Context Cards in the People tool for improved consistency.
Instructure recently created a document to announce upcoming changes further out than the next release cycle. Click here to view the Upcoming Canvas Changes document.
- Canvas will cease support of Internet Explorer 11 on August 3, 2019.
- The New Gradebook will replace the original gradebook for all Canvas institutions starting on January 4, 2020.
