Instructure will release updates to our Canvas environment Saturday, June 22, 2019. Here are the highlights:

  • Teachers can filter the New Gradebook by student groups and select group membership as secondary display info.
  • Teachers can provide accommodations (additional time or attempts) to students in individual Quizzes.Next assessments (in addition to existing course-level accommodations).
  • In Canvas Commons, Unsplash image search replaces Flickr. Images from Flickr will be retained.
  • Students see clear messages indicating if editing and deleting their discussion posts has been disabled.

The notes contain more details about these and other changes, a link to a screencast explaining some of the changes contained in the release, a comments section, and role-specific user summaries. You can join in the discussion if you log in to the Canvas Community.

New releases arrive every third Saturday through July 13, 2019. Instructure is implementing a new release schedule thereafter. Their current plan is to do a production release once each month on the third Saturday starting in August, and release notes will be available further in advance. Following this change, there will be twelve releases per year instead of seventeen. Click here for detailed information about the new release schedule.

Release notes are published in advance at https://community.canvaslms.com/community/answers/releases/release-notes-canvas.
