Instructure will release updates to our Canvas environment Saturday, January 18, 2020. Highlights include the following.

  • New Gradebook replaces classic Gradebook in all courses. Click here to view our support page about the new Gradebook.
  • The New Course and User Analytics interface is active for all courses. We made this change on January 13th in advance of Instructure’s plan to remove the classic analytics views on March 21st. Click here to view New Analytics guides.
  • Teachers can manually post submission comments without assigning a score for manual post assignments in the (new) gradebook.
  • Teachers using New Quizzes may set shuffled answers and may search for outcomes to associate.

The new features for direct share, personal pronouns, and the rich content editor are not active in Emory Canvas at this time. Click here to view the full Canvas release notes for January 18, 2020. The full notes contain more details about these and other changes, a link to a screencast explaining some of the changes contained in the release, a comments section, and role-specific user summaries. You can join in the discussion if you log in to the Canvas Community.

Production feature releases arrive on the third Saturday of each month. Click here to view release notes on Canvas Community. Instructure also lists noteworthy changes planned for future releases.  Click here to view planned changes.
