Canvas Release Highlights for July 2025

Highlights this month are a dyslexia friendly font toggle in user account settings, a new interface in course Files, a new way for teachers to manage threading for imported Discussions in bulk, and a way to archive Canvas Studio media.

All users can toggle a dyslexia friendly font feature in their own user account settings.

All users will see a new interface in the Files tool. Initially, users may switch to the old interface by clicking a button at the top of the Files page. A detailed blog post about the new Files interface indicates the old interface will be retired at the end of 2025. Instructure has not announced a date to remove the old interface completely.

Teachers who import discussions created before July 2024 will see a new message and button at the top of the Discussions index page in their course. When they click Manage Discussions, they can update multiple discussions topics’ setting for threaded replies.

Canvas Studio Media owners can archive media to move it from their main library to an archive area as of the Wednesday, July 23, 2025 release. (I added this feature to the highlights on July 23.)
