I am interested in understanding how pH change drives conformational changes and function in membrane proteins, particularly in influenza hemagglutinin. Utilizing the toolbox of time resolved vibrational spectroscopy and fluorescence and infrared imaging techniques, I hope to “shed light” on the dynamics of hemagglutinin conformational changes and membrane fusion.

Prior to my time at Emory, I largely avoided anything related to biological sciences like the plague. My background was in physical/analytical chemistry, astrochemistry, and radiochemistry.

Outside of the lab I enjoy reading, arguing vehemently about topics of which I have a passing understanding, playing too many videogames, and consuming excessive amounts of Diet Mt. Dew.
