As part of ongoing initiatives in digital literacy, the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship (ECDS) has created open-access, self-paced tutorials and courses for individual study. Check out the brand new ECDS Digital Scholarship Training Website! Our team has curated different learning materials and resources and organized them into recommended learning paths to fast-track your learning. Enroll in as many courses as you like and start exploring different tools and methods in Digital Scholarship.

Ready to Learn Something New?

This platform offers you the flexibility to learn at your own pace, allowing you to skip, revisit, or repeat lessons based on your interests and availability. We’ve organized each course in logical pathways to help you build expertise in programming, multimedia editing, web design, and other areas of digital scholarship. Whether you’re part of the Emory community or just want to learn new skills, these self-paced courses adapt to your schedule and goals. While some workshop recordings are reserved for current Emory students, faculty, and staff, most content is openly accessible to all, reflecting ECDS’s commitment to making digital scholarship education available to all.

Not sure where to start? We’ve mapped out available tools and or complete topical courses, so you can easily find what you need. Many lessons include interactive exercises, such as the “Let’s Try Some Examples” sections in the Programming Languages module, where you can immediately apply in a fun way what you’ve learned. Emory members have additional opportunities to practice their new knowledge using ECDS’s production facilities for audio/video editing or publishing on ScholarBlogs, Emory’s free platform for creating websites and blogs. Also, each module provides curated external resources for those who want to explore topics in more depth.

This initiative represents a cross-disciplinary collaboration, with a team of graduate and undergraduate students from fields like Sociology, Computer Science, English, Hispanic Studies, and Philosophy contributing to course development under the direction of ECDS Digital Scholarship Specialist Alexander Cors. These students have not only gained valuable experience in digital methodologies to include in their own research but have also helped create engaging, accessible learning materials for a broader audience.
