What do we study?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Understanding the complex drivers of behavior and developing effective support systems is vital for addressing the challenges of addiction and public health. Research in the Basic and Applied Addictions Research (BAAR) Lab<\/strong> focuses on advancing knowledge regarding substance use <\/strong>and its related health outcomes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our interdisciplinary team of scientists and scholars is particularly dedicated to developing and testing digital tools and innovative strategies to better understand the mechanisms behind addiction<\/strong>. By uncovering what drives these behaviors, we aim to improve how we support individuals and communities affected by both substance use <\/strong>and HIV<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital tools allow our team to go beyond traditional methods to observe behaviors in real-time, helping us better understand what truly drives addiction.

Because our participants often face very difficult moments, we use their essential insights to develop strategies that are truly responsive to their needs.
