New Databases

Over the course of the 2017-2018 academic year, the Woodruff Library acquired over 25 new databases, including a number of digital archives of potential interest to historians. See below for a complete list of new databases purchased between 2015 and 2018. Each of these databases can be accessed via the links below, discoverE, or databases@emory.

Church Missionary Society Periodicals, Adam Matthews Digital (7/2018)
From its roots as an Anglican evangelical movement driven by lay persons, this resource encompasses publications from the CMS, the Church of England Zenana Missionary Society and the latterly integrated South American Missionary Society.

East India Company Company Archives, Adam Matthews Digital (7/2018)
East India Company offers access to a unique collection of India Office Records from the British Library, London. Containing royal charters, correspondence, trading diaries, minutes of council meetings and reports of expeditions, among other document types, this resource charts the history of British trade and rule in the Indian subcontinent and beyond from 1595 to 1947.

PRS International Country Risk Guide (7/2017)
PRS’ data on “country risk” are commonly-used measures of the quality of governance in different countries.

Ch’ing Historical Figures and Biographical Packets/ Memorials and Archives of the Grand Council (6/2017)
Information on Ch’ing historical figures includes 3,536 Packets of Biographical Materials and 8,384 Draft Biographies, and 1,270 volumes of Ch’ing Historical Figures, Jing version, a total of over 15,000 valuable pieces of information on important historical figures from Ch’ing. Users need to log in again before any searches.
