These awards were formally announced at the fall Department of History party on Friday, October 29. See the names of the winners and details below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Ross H. and May B. McLean Prize<\/strong>, awarded annually to the first-year student\/s in history who achieved the most distinguished record for the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2021-&#8217;22 winners: <a href=\"http:\/\/history.emory.edu\/home\/people\/graduate\/cocking.html\">Olivia Cocking<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/history.emory.edu\/home\/people\/graduate\/guardado.html\">Alejandro Guardado<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong> Francis S. Benjamin Prize<\/strong>, awarded for the best paper written by a graduate student during their first two years in the Emory History PhD program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2021-&#8217;22 winner: <a href=\"http:\/\/history.emory.edu\/home\/people\/graduate\/rall.html\">Ursula Rall<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Blair Rogers Major and James Russell Major Dissertation Award<\/strong>, given&nbsp;annually to the most promising student writing a dissertation in the history of Europe and of European expansion (including the British Isles), from&nbsp;classical antiquity to&nbsp;the present.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2021-&#8217;22 winners: <a href=\"http:\/\/history.emory.edu\/home\/people\/graduate\/compton.html\">Alexander L.
