Mellon Foundation has awarded Emory College a $225,000 grant for a year-long investigation of the histories of unfreedom in the Black Atlantic. The grant will support a symposium titled &#8220;Visions of Slavery,&#8221; which is co-organized by Dr. <a href=\"http:\/\/history.emory.edu\/home\/people\/faculty\/rucker-walter.html\">Walter C. Rucker<\/a>, Professor of History, and <a href=\"https:\/\/aas.emory.edu\/mellon_sawyer_seminar\/bios\/1-holsey-bayo.html\">Bayo Holsey<\/a>, Associate Professor of Anthropology. The event will take place as a part of Mellon\u2019s 2022-2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/mellon.org\/programs\/higher-learning\/sawyer-seminars\/\">Sawyer Seminar<\/a> series and involve faculty from other university campuses across Atlanta. History Department faculty <a href=\"http:\/\/history.emory.edu\/home\/people\/faculty\/candido-mariana.html\">Mariana Candido<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/history.emory.edu\/home\/people\/faculty\/chira-adriana.html\">Adriana Chira<\/a> are part of the working group for the seminar.
