Anderson&#8217;s article, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracydocket.com\/opinion\/intimidating-voters-is-nothing-new-in-georgia-its-just-easier-now\/\">Intimidating Voters Is Nothing New in Georgia, It\u2019s Just Easier Now<\/a>,&#8221; outlines the range of voter intimidation efforts that took place in Georgia in the 2020 election and which have been made even easier through new laws in the lead up to the 2024 election. Read a quote from the piece below along with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracydocket.com\/opinion\/intimidating-voters-is-nothing-new-in-georgia-its-just-easier-now\/\">full article<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;In December 2020, just weeks before a historic U.S. Senate runoff election in Georgia,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracydocket.com\/cases\/georgia-voter-intimidation-suit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">True the Vote<\/a>, a Texas-based right-wing group,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/politics\/eligibility-of-364000-georgia-voters-challenged-before-senate-runoff\/3UIMDOVRFVERXOJ3IBHYWZBWYI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">challenged the voter registration<\/a>\u00a0of more than 250,000 Georgians, &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/politics\/trial-to-decide-whether-georgia-voter-challenges-are-illegal-intimidation\/V4MWD7VOXVC5DKQDE3GY3VKNZI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">offered a $1 million bounty<\/a>\u00a0and recruited Navy SEALs to oversee polling places,&#8217; hoping that enough Americans would be purged from the rolls less than a month before a key election that would decide control of the Senate.\u00a0\u00a0<br \/><br \/>&#8220;This was not the first time that the organization pulled a stunt like this. True the Vote had already received\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.propublica.org\/article\/a-reading-guide-to-true-the-vote-the-controversial-voter-fraud-watchdog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brushback pitches<\/a>\u00a0from the Department of Justice and authorities in Ohio, Texas and Wisconsin for submitting unverifiable lists, demanding the removal of voters even though a federal election loomed and intimidating voters. Indeed, True the Vote suggested that intimidation was key to its strategy. Earlier it had told its volunteers that the goal was to give voters a feeling &#8216;like driving and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/world\/true-vote-gets-blocked-key-ohio-county-flna1C6889645\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seeing the police<\/a>\u00a0following you.&#8217; In short, to replicate the terror of &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2018\/jun\/07\/black-voter-suppression-rights-america-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Voting while Black<\/a>.'&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Carol Anderson, Robert W.
