Epidemiologist III (Posting number 441112) โ€“ Epidemiologist III performs highly advanced (senior-level) research and epidemiological work in the area of maternal and child health (MCH). Work includes taking a lead role in the State Systems Development Initiative (SSDI), which complements the Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant, for the MCH Epidemiology Unit. Requires building data systems and expanding the state MCH data capacity to support Title V program efforts and contribute to data driven program efforts throughout the state. Develops, plans, designs, and implements research activities, studies, evaluation, and assessment based on standard scientific methods or new innovative theoretical approaches. Projects will be focused on public health issues/conditions relevant to maternal and child health. Provides research consultation and technical assistance to MCH program areas on epidemiological methods, research/surveillance design and program evaluation/assessment of public health practices. Preparation of articles, papers, and reports for publication and in-house distribution; support program management and other DSHS activities including the use of standard graphic applications, in particular Tableau, and scientific GIS mapping. Participates in cross-functional training within the MCH Epidemiology Unit. Work is performed under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
