The Data Analyst &#8211; Epidemiology will be part of a team that is responsible for surveillance, program and policy evaluation, data collection and reporting, analysis, and assisting with identification and adoption of evidence-based policies and practices.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Examples of Duties<\/strong><br \/>Collect, analyze, manage, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data.<br \/>Receive, interpret, and respond to requests for data from Health Department staff and external stakeholders.<br \/>Maintain existing datasets and corresponding documentation.<br \/>Assist in developing recommendations for data-driven, evidence-based interventions, policies, and control measures in response to epidemiologic findings.<br \/>Assist in evaluation of public health programs.<br \/>Prepare written and oral reports and presentations that communicate necessary information to agency staff, the public, and partners.<br \/>Identify surveillance needs; assist with design, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of public health surveillance systems.<br \/>Provide epidemiologic input into epidemiologic studies, public health programs, and community public health planning processes.<br \/>Participate in development of community partnerships to support epidemiologic investigations.<br \/>Conduct epidemiologic activities within the financial and operational plan of the agency.<br \/>Apply ethical principles, laws, and policies in accessing, collecting, analyzing, using, maintaining, and disseminating data and information including Department policies, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and applicable state and local privacy laws.<br \/>Minimum Qualifications<br \/>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Epidemiology, Statistics, Computer Programming, Public Health, or related field of study; Master&#8217;s Degree preferred.<br \/><br \/>Candidates with a degree in a related field must demonstrate completion of at least 20 credit hours of coursework in epidemiology, statistics, or computer programming.<br \/><br \/>Two (2) to five (5) years of experience working in the field of data analysis.<br \/><br \/>Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirement of this position.<\/p>\n<p>Supplemental Information<br \/>LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:<br \/>Must be presently authorized to work in the United States on a full time employee.<br \/><br \/>Valid State of Michigan Driver License required.<br \/><br \/>Completion of Emergency Preparedness training to include, but not limited to FEMA ISC 100, 200, 700 and 800 and others as required by department staff.<br \/><br \/>May be required to assist in emergency response.<br \/><br \/>Candidates considered for placement in this classification will be subject to a FBI Criminal Background Investigation which includes a fingerprint clearance based on the requirements of the position.<\/p>\n<p>PLEASE ATTACH A RESUME TO THE APPLICATION<br \/>(INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED)<br \/>?<br \/><strong>EVALUATION PROCESS:<\/strong> <br \/>Oral Interview: 70%<br \/>Evaluation of Training Experience &amp; Personal Qualifications 30%<br \/>Total of Oral Interview &amp; Evaluation of TEP= 100% (Maximum)<br \/>Domicile Credit: 15 points<br \/>Military Service Credit 1 &#8211; 15 points<\/p>\n<p>To apply, click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governmentjobs.com\/careers\/detroit\/jobs\/2562616\/data-analyst-epidemiology\/apply\/jobdetails?page=2&amp;pagetype=jobOpportunitiesJobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you have questions, please contact Lauren Fink at <a href=\"javascript:secureDecryptAndNavigate('+ZqYuyCqnOu7bwk\/UV9pJWUDlLLqmh8udpamcc+ZBdfEA3wlmLjyCgiRAOEGdvMpkMzUR92I3X\/6A4at1K1YcDg8zuj92Gtc2\/I=', '5c2142bd695f78df0e027d1fbf90b918fab4a8c1be22ee51de09659e5e5cc477')\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">finkl [at] detroitmi [dot] gov<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DescriptionUnder leadership of the Chief Epidemiologist, the Data Analyst &#8211; Epidemiology is responsible for supporting the collection, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of public health data.
