Visual Arts Fellow Opens Permanent Location for Literary Organization

Stephanie Dowda DeMer joins the Emory Film and Media Department as our 2025-2025  Emory Arts Fellow in Visual Arts. The artist teaches photography, but her engagement exceeds the visual. DeMer co-runs Lost in the Letters, a 501(c)(3) literary organization that centers around creative writing readings, dialogues, and workshops. This vibrant community will soon settle into physical space on Mclendon Avenue in Candler Park (in the location that previously housed the Flying Biscuit). During the day, the space will function as a reading room and lounge, and in the evening, as a writers’ studio with a membership model. Lost in the Letters opens its doors on October 4 with a celebration that will run from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. Read more about the opening here.
