The software consists of two R packages. The first package enables researchers to run stochastic agent-based simulations of influenza outbreaks in a stratified population, generate datasets and use them to evaluate the bias of estimates of vaccine effectiveness (VE) from four study designs: active and passive cohort studies, test-negative studies and traditional case-controls studies. This software corresponds to Project 2 in the ‘Research Projects’ section.
The second software package implements the probability model described in Project 1 in the ‘Research Projects’ Section. It allows interested researchers to calculate the expected bias of influenza VE estimates from the four study designs listed above.
