March 15 – April 15 is Jr. Seminar Business Essentials Month

Although many of us are working and studying remotely for the Spring 2021 semester, your business librarians are still pleased to offer many Junior Seminar Business Essentials classes via Canvas and Zoom between March 15 and April 15. 

  • Become a Business Source Complete Rock Star. (via Canvas from 3/15 – 4/15) Learn to use Business Source Complete to search business, industry, and scholarly articles for your class projects and interview prep.
  • Map Your Major to Your Future. (via Canvas from 3/15 – 4/15) Learn strategies for entering the workforce, including tips and resources for interview prep and networking
  • Become a Factiva Rock Star. (via Canvas from 3/15 – 4/15) Learn to search news articles about companies, industries, and markets to gather information for interview preparation and for class projects.
  • Transform into an Advanced Google Expert. (via Canvas from 3/15 – 4/15) Navigate Google to efficiently locate credible data and
    analysis for class projects and internship/job interview prep.
  • Investigate the Market for Your Business Startup (via Zoom on 3/17 from 6pm-7:30pm) Discover resources to test the viability of your idea and scope out the industry, competition, and potential customers.
  • Locate Companies that Sponsor H1B Visas (via Zoom on 3/22 from 6pm-7:30pm) Search for companies that have sponsored H1Bs in the past to develop your target company list.
  • Learn from the Experts at SimplyAnalytics: Discover the Power of Data & Visualization (via Zoom on 3/24 from 6pm-7:30pm) Explore the building blocks of SimplyAnalytics in this hands-on session.
  • Learn from the Experts at Mintel: Real-World Marketing Client Case Study (via Zoom on 3/31 from 6pm-7:30pm) Learn how to navigate Mintel effectively and practice your skills with a real-world client case.
  • Identify Companies for Your Internship Search (via Zoom on 4/5 from 6pm-7:30pm) Develop a target company list based on geography, industry, function, qualitative factors, and more.
  • Careers in Consulting: Case Interview Resources and Company Research Tips (via Zoom on 4/15 from 6pm-7:30pm) Locate case prep interview guides and learn research strategies for exploring your target firms and industry trends.
