Follow the process below to create a new PitchBook account on or off campus. If you’ve just forgotten your password, follow the steps in our blog: How to Reset Your PitchBook Password.
1. Clear Your Browser’s Cache and Cookies
Before starting, clear your browser’s cache and cookies to avoid issues with saved login states or redirects. You can usually do this from your browser’s settings under Privacy or History.
2. Disconnect from VPN Before Starting
Important: Disable any VPN connection before accessing the PitchBook registration page.
3. Access PitchBook via the Business Library’s PitchBook Database Page
- PitchBook Database Page: https://libraries.emory.edu/business/research-learning/databases/pitchbook
- Authenticate using your Emory NetID and password when prompted.
4. Create a New Account
- On the PitchBook login screen, click “Create an Account.”
- Use your Emory email address and complete the registration form.
5. Check for Activation Email
- Look for a confirmation or activation email from PitchBook.
- Follow the link to set your password
- Pick a password. Heads up: you’ll have to change your password again shortly – see step 7)
6. Return to the Emory Libraries PitchBook Link
- Always use the library database page to access PitchBook, as you did in Step 3
- Do not bookmark or go directly to pitchbook.com—this may bypass institutional access.
- Always log in with your Emory.edu email; not your NetID
7. Complete Final Password Prompt
- You will be prompted again to set your password.
- To do so, repeat Steps 5 and 6. Use a new password for this second reset.
- Do not try to log in directly from pitchbook.com.
- Always go back to the library database page to access PitchBook, as you did in Step 3.
- You may now log in to PitchBook by going to the library database portal (Step 3).
8. Reconnect to VPN (Optional)
Once registration and login are successful, you may reconnect to the VPN if needed for other services. VPN typically does not interfere with PitchBook after your account is active.
9. Did you skip a step or are you seeing an account activation error?
- Pitchbook will reset your account and you can start fresh.
- Email Support [at] pitchbook [dot] com
- In the subject line say “Emory Microsite: disable account” and in the body of the email say “please disable the account for <Your name> <your emory email>”
