“Hello-My name is Shivani and I will be a first-year HDGH student at Rollins this Fall! I am so excited and feel blessed to kick start my Public Health journey with Emory University. An East-coast bred native, my hometown is Richmond, Virginia and I completed my first Bachelor’s degree at Randolph-Macon College in 2016. My interest in Public Health are strongly aligned with Healthcare delivery, healthcare rights, and health equity globally working to advocate for and mitigate the various Social Determinants of Health associated with health inequity. A few of my passions and interests outside the academia include-indulging in the Arts with painting and sketching, writing, cooking, learning photography, and enjoying the moments I get to travel and see the world with my family and friends”

Meet Monzur, one of our new Graduate Assistants and a first-year student in HDGH! Monzur has previously worked with organizations like The Taskforce for Global Health, the CDC Foundation, and BRAC. He earned his undergraduate degree in Information Science from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and was a 2022-23 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at Emory University. Originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, Monzur is excited to be back in Atlanta and part of the Rollins community!

For the past 10 years, Colleen Seeber has dedicate

For the past 10 years, Colleen Seeber has dedicated her career to supporting students and fostering academic success. After earning her MEd in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia, Colleen’s career took her across the country. She worked at Oregon State University, then transitioned to New York University, before returning to Georgia during the pandemic. With extensive experience as a crisis manager for international students and academic advisor, she has navigated complex student challenges while ensuring holistic guidance. Colleen has also been a leader in developing student services and advising initiatives specifically tailored to students in the arts, creating comprehensive programs that enhance student engagement, well-being, and success. For the past 2.5 years, Colleen has served as an ADAP in the Environmental Health department; she is happy to be able to bring her skills and experience to the Global Health community. She hopes her continued commitment to building strong, supportive environments will positively impact Global Health students on their academic journeys.

Shelby is back for another year as a Graduate Asis

Shelby is back for another year as a Graduate Asisstant for HDGH! Shelby is a second year in the department focusing on gender-based violence, human trafficking, and social inclusion. After spending all of her life in Austin, Texas (Hook ‘em Horns!), she earned her undergraduate degree in Global Studies in 2023 from Auburn University (War Eagle!). During her time in Atlanta she has enjoyed spending time on the Beltline and the diverse live music scene. She cannot believe how fast her experience at Rollins is flying by!

Stephanie Jean Jacques is a seasoned, student-focu

Stephanie Jean Jacques is a seasoned, student-focused leader in Higher Education with 15 years of combined experience in Advisement, Career Services, and Academic Affairs. Stephanie’s career highlights include: cultivating robust academic and experiential learning experiences onsite and online; building positive relationships and supporting students, faculty, and staff; transforming operational procedures by utilizing data and integrating compliance requirements; leveraging persuasive presentation techniques to coach and train audiences; and adding value to units by developing and implementing effective programming for student success. Stephanie’s work is driven by her passion for counseling, adult learning, and technology. She earned a B.A. in English with a minor in Psychology as well as an M.A. in Counseling with a concentration in Student Affairs/Higher Education from Montclair State University. She has completed coursework and residency towards an Ed.D. in Education specializing in Higher Education & Adult Learning from Walden University.

“I’m a NJ-native and thoroughly enjoy doing things that give me the opportunity to explore Atlanta. I spend my time trying new restaurants, visiting local attractions, attending festivals, and meeting new people at networking events. I love hearing students talk about their career aspirations! It’s exciting to be a part of their academic journey and transition to the world of work. It’s truly an honor to work among faculty and staff who strive for excellence, advocate health and well-being, and promote diversity and inclusion in their work.

Fun Fact: I minored in Anti-Black Racism (I am part of the first graduating cohort) and Disability Studies.“

Meet our Humphrey Fellows!

“Dr. Park obtained her Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in biotechnology at Korea University and conducted postdoctoral research at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in USA. During her postdoctoral fellowship at MIT, her research on oxidative stress-induced skin damage discovered candidates for medicine development through understanding the action mechanism of a wide range of antioxidants including palm oil phenolics.

She has worked as a quality reviewer at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for more than 12 years and has focused on providing high quality biologics to expand therapeutic opportunities in Korea and support Korean biopharmaceutical companies. During the global COVID- 19 pandemic, she worked as a major quality reviewer in the specially coordinated review team for COVID-19 vaccines at MFDS to prioritize the development and marketing-authorization of the most promising vaccines.

Through the Humphrey Fellowship, she seeks to gain knowledge and skills to advance innovative technologies related to biologics, which will help to support the Korea biopharmaceutical companies to develop innovative biologics with international credibility, and also establish advanced review standard and assessment skills for innovative biologics.”

“This was the 3rd annual Southeastern Regional H

“This was the 3rd annual Southeastern Regional Health Improvement Case Competition. We started out as 240 students in groups of 4 or 5. The best 5 groups (Duke University, Yale, Georgia Tech, Emory and Emory/Kennesaw State) were invited to the finals. My group was the Emory/Kennesaw, made up of 2 students from Kennesaw and 3 students from Emory. Our group was called RxChange and we talked about reducing medication non-adherence among people with chronic diseases in rural Southeast using a mobile pharmacy to transport donated medications sitting in already existing medication repositories in Atlanta.”

“I competed in the EGHI Intramural Global Health

“I competed in the EGHI Intramural Global Health Case Competition. My team was composed of an interdisciplinary team with an Epidemiology PhD student from the Laney Graduate School, a MD/PhD student, a Economics Undergraduate student from Emory College, an epidemiology MPH student, and a BSHES MPH student. I was the team captain and we competed against 12 other teams also composed of students across Emory. Our case topic was Health of Migrants on the US/Mexico border (specifically addressing an infectious disease). Our winning solution used a continuum of care model called CHAMP, Cross-border Health Advocacy for Migrant Populations.

We then got to compete in an International competition with other interdisciplinary teams from across the world!“

Meet our Humphrey Fellows! “Dr. Ziara obtained

Meet our Humphrey Fellows!

“Dr. Ziara obtained her MBBS in 2009 from Misr University for Science and Technology in Egypt. In 2013, she completed her Child Health and Nutrition Professional Diploma from the Islamic University of Gaza. She began her work in the academic field for 2 years as an Assistant Lecturer and then pursued clinical work to specialize in Pediatrics. Just a few months before finishing her residency program, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and within eight months, she defeated cancer and pledged to advocate for cancer patients’ right to access proper treatment with dignity and with no discrimination. She then volunteered with one of the national organizations which is devoted to supporting cancer patients.

In 2019 and after working for 3 years with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) as a part-time Medical Doctor, she worked as a Medical Coordinator Support for MSF’s mission in Palestine. In her first managerial position, she helped to create patient- centered interventions and design projects that fill the gaps in the health system taking into consideration the wellbeing and the capacity of the health care providers.

In 2022, Dr. Ziara started working with Medecins du Mond (MdM) as the Consortium Projects Manager, responsible for 4 projects concerning Mental Health (MH) with 3 different grants to implement MH interventions.

In 2022, she began an online Diploma in Humanitarian Leadership Management with the American University of Beirut. Dr. Ziara also participated in a clinical training course for 2 months in one of the most prestigious hospitals in Palestine, where she worked as a Neonatal Intensivist with the most senior Neonatologists in Palestine. She also participated in clinical researches that were published locally and presented in scientific days and national conferences.”
