When you first look at this image all you see is a group of people nicely dressed. Now zoom in a little closer and take a look at the apprehensive looks on all of their faces. They are look as if their lives depend on whatever it is that is about to happen.
This photograph is of Immigrants and the Arizona Dream Act Coalition staff as they wait to hear from an attorney that could potentially help start a federal program to keep young undocumented immigrants from being deported. According to the Al Jazeera article “‘I’m American too’: Undocumented Students Wait for Obama Action”, there are about 1.5 million undocumented students living in the United States. Because these students are not citizens, they do not qualify for federal aid when it comes to applying to college and this is creates an issue. Education should be for all, but because of a label, this right is stripped from people and contradicts the American Dream.
