Hi everyone! The School of Medicine is screening The Only Doctor at the Harland Cinema on Sunday, September 24th. The Only Doctor is a documentary, directed by Matthew Hashiguchi, that explores the rural health crisis affecting disadvantaged counties in Georgia. The documentary focuses on Dr. Karen Kinsell, who works as an unpaid volunteer to provide medical care in the Deep South. The director, Matthew Hashiguchi, is a Georgia-based filmmaker who is also an Assistant Professor in Multimedia Film & Production at Georgia Southern University. After the screening, there will be an opportunity to ask both Dr. Kinsell and Hashiguchi questions about the documentary. I think this would be a great opportunity to learn more about the various issues surrounding healthcare, and I’ve attached more information below!
