Before arriving at this week, I was curious to know what content we would be covering about documentaries. I have watched a few documentaries. I would not say I am a huge fan, but if a documentary comes out about a topic that I am interested in, I am going to watch. Thinking about all of the documentaries I have seen and Paris Is Burning made me wonder: what about a documentary makes it good or successful? I have watched some documentaries that have ended with me on my phone, not paying attention 20 minutes after it started, and others where i was glued to my seat with my eyes locked on the screen. What is the difference between the good and the bad?
Paris Is Burning is not the first documentary of the LGBTQ+ community, voguing, or balls, but it is remembered and cherished as a documentary. Because of this, I wanted to put the article I initially read about Paris is Burning and another article that discusses some components that are considered when creating a documentary.
