As we do in class, I will start with likes and dislikes. I personally did not like the movie. It was not something that really interested me. I don’t know why exactly. Maybe it is because I am not much of a history guy and I feel like you needed a lot of background knowledge going into this movie. Also when the movie first started, what was up with the black screen for what felt like forever? I thought the movie was just glitching because we could hear the music but not see anything. To add on, I noitced when watching the movie that that there was only one tracking shot throughout the film. It was at the very beginning when the man was pushing the wheelbarrow. From that point forward, it was nothing but still shots from cut to cut. I know the reason is because all of the cameras were hidden throughout the house, but I still would have assumed there would be some other kind of shots when they were not in the house. Another thing I noticed is that Rudolph and his wife were sleeping in separate beds. I don’t know what that was really about but it genuinley confused me. As a whole I just did not understand the movie or the plot. I was also really confused on like the night-vision x-ray filter thing they had going on with the girl picking and planting fruit in different locations. To me it just felt like the entire movie was random especially at the end. Rudolph is walking down the stairs and like vomits or something, but nothing comes out and then he looks down the hall and then continues walking down the stairs and then it ends. I really look forward to hearing other peoples thoughts about the movie on thursday and maybe gain some kind of understanding as to what was going on.
Other questions I had:
What was in the water was the reason Rudolph rushed everyone out of it. Also, where did the mom who came to visit go, and what was on the note she left?
