So, with this success you would think that social media would be talking about their amazing acting, comedic timing, or singing. However, social media works in weird ways since more than anything I have seen comments that have nothing to do with their talent, and everything to do with their bodies.

People are pulling pictures of Ariana and Cynthia before the shooting of the film Wicked and after. They are analyzing how they both have lost a significant amount of weight after shooting the film.

For example this video I recently watched on tiktok:

“Warning we may be seeing the last of these two…”

“As many are terrified that both their lives are in danger and they wont survive…”

This person is claiming that he and other fans are concerned for these actors. They go as far as saying these actors might not survive. They think that by making this video they can “help” them or educate others on their well being. Although these comments on their weight and body will only do harm.

In a recent interview Ariana has responded to the comments on her body. She says that “Its uncomfortable no matter what scale you’re receiving it on…” She emotionally says that “theres a comfortability that people have commenting on that that I think is really dangerous.” Clearly hearing it from Grande herself, she doesn’t enjoy these comments on her body nor does she think its “helping” her in any way. Social media has gotten extremely toxic and people have a certain boldness when hiding behind screens that they would never have in real life.

Through seeing these detrimental videos I have looked through the comments to see if anyone else seems to agree with my point of view. To my surprise, there were little to no people seeing the issue that was clearly at hand. There have been comments i’ve seen calling this new movie Wicked the “Wizard of Ozempic” or “WickED” trying to say that Ariana and Cynthia have been taking the drug Ozempic known for losing weight, or how they both have eating disorders.

What these people don’t seem to understand is that by posting these videos, they aren’t helping these actors at all. If their actually right and these actors are struggling in any way, posting videos commenting on their bodies are only going to make it worse, and not only that but they shouldn’t be commenting on other peoples bodies at all. They claim that they are trying to help but really what they are doing are negatively affected these actors mental health.

This being an assignment where we can pick whatever we want to talk about I was excited to go a little bit random.
