Kenya Human Rights Commission
A non-partisan, non-profit making, membership non-governmental organization based in Nairobi, Kenya. The KHRC was formed in the United States of America in 1991 by Kenyan exiles and activists to specifically lobby for the respect of human rights and promotion of democratization, accountability and good governance in Kenya. The KHRC has provided legal hosting to human rights groups that have been denied registration by the Kenya governement : the Release Political Prisoners pressure group (RPP), the Legal Resources Foundation (LRF), the Citizens for Constitutional Change (4Cs), Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI), and the Kenya Pastoralist Forum (KPF). They operate as projects of the KHRC although they are in practical terms autonomous organizations. These legal covers, and the subsequent collaboration with these organizations, have enabled these projects to have a lasting impact on the struggle for the respect for human rights and democratization in Kenya
