The Lebanese Council to Resist Violence Against Women (LCRVAW)
The Council was established in response to the alarming rate of violent acts against women in Lebanon, and the lack of legal and social support for victims of such crimes. The Council is made up of professional women, drawing members from different sects in Lebanon. The women, mostly volunteers, passionately work towards a common goal: helping victims of violence and diminishing the occurrence of such violence in our society through education, lobbying, and increasing public awareness. LCRVAW has four main goals : Through our work we aim at carrying the concept of violence from private to public awareness. This with the goal of influencing public opinion to reject and condemn violence, as well as work on legislating laws for the protection of abused women. Such goals are defined in detail through the following links : Disseminate information locally, regionally and internationally; Lobby for legal and social reforms; Provide free legal-aid and counseling to victims of violence; Network with affiliated groups and organizations.
