EMACE is a Sri Lankan based NGO committed to protecting the basic human rights of Sri Lanka’s most vulnerable people. We help women, children, and displaced people to attain adequate means of income generation, health care, education, security and environmental sustainability, whilst actively influencing industries and government policies towards greener practice. Central to this is the belief that a healthy environment creates healthy people. Special emphasis is given to a holistic approach, ensuring that affected people are made part of the solution, empowering people to manage their own lives in a sustainable fashion, and thereby breaking the cycle of poverty in which they are trapped.
Foundation for Co-Existence
To make coexistence between the peoples of Sri Lanka a positive value. Goal: Co-existence through human development and respect for diversity.
Peace Initiative of Sri Lanka
The Peace Initiative is a youth organization focused on creating awareness of the need for peace, respect within communities and transforming the thinking of the younger generation to be more open, rationalized and accommodative. Whilst subscribing to the view that there should be unity in diversity, we believe that a well informed and open generation of youth would be the bridge between diverse societies that we experience today. The Peace Initiative was founded by a group of committed young professionals and students who believed in contributing their knowledge and skills towards the well-being of Sri Lanka.
Muslim Women’s Research and Action Forum
The Forum promotes Muslim women’s total development and represents issues affecting Muslim women in Sri Lanka; conducts social awareness programs on family law, fundamentalism and human rights; and coordinates research programs involving women in law, religion and culture.
