Furthermore, we are interested in how differences in socio-ecology \u2013 ranging from relatively isolated, egalitarian communities to more market-integrated, hierarchical ones \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s10745-015-9764-y\">impact cooperation strategies<\/a> and health outcomes.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr style=\"height: 108px\">\n<td style=\"width: 156px;height: 108px;vertical-align: middle\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-252\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/jaeggilab\/files\/2017\/03\/bonobos-150x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 427px;height: 108px;text-align: left;vertical-align: middle\"><strong>Cooperation among female bonobos at LuiKotale, DRC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Led by postdoc <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/jaeggilab\/moscovice\/\">Liza Moscovice<\/a> and in collaboration with LuiKotale directors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ljmu.ac.uk\/about-us\/staff-profiles\/faculty-of-science\/natural-sciences-and-psychology\/barbara-fruth\">Barbara Fruth<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eva.mpg.de\/primat\/staff\/gottfried-hohmann\/index.html\">Gottfried Hohmann<\/a>, we are investigating the function and hormonal bases of cooperation among female bonobos, both within and between communities. To this end we cultivate strengths in modern phylogenetic methods and use them to complement our empirical field work. Recent comparative studies include the <a href=\"http:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s00265-011-1221-3\">evolution of food sharing in primates<\/a>, meta-analyses of <a href=\"http:\/\/rspb.royalsocietypublishing.org\/content\/280\/1768\/20131615.short\">reciprocity in food sharing among humans and other primates<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pnas.org\/content\/113\/39\/10824.short\">link between men\u2019s status and fitness<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1002\/ajpa.23164\/full\">comparative perspective on human grooming<\/a>, and a phylogenetic re-analysis of polygyny in the Standard Cross-Cultural Sample, led by Master\u2019s student Riana Minocher.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Research in our lab focuses on the evolution and ecology of social behavior\u00a0in humans and our closest living relatives.
