{"id":649,"date":"2023-03-21T18:13:07","date_gmt":"2023-03-21T18:13:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ldn\/?p=649"},"modified":"2023-04-03T17:02:51","modified_gmt":"2023-04-03T17:02:51","slug":"longitudinal-fatherhood-study","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ldn\/2023\/03\/21\/longitudinal-fatherhood-study\/","title":{"rendered":"Longitudinal Fatherhood Study"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ldn\/files\/2023\/02\/dad.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-550\" width=\"599\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ldn\/files\/2023\/02\/dad.png 760w, https:\/\/scholarblogs.emory.edu\/ldn\/files\/2023\/02\/dad-250x141.png 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri,Helvetica,sans-serif\">The Laboratory for Darwinian Neuroscience is conducting a 17-month long study comprised of five visits to determine if and when men experience biological changes as they become fathers for the first time.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span dir=\"ltr\">Qualifying criteria for the study:<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Males aged 20-45 years old and currently expecting his first child<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">In a heterosexual relationship and lives with his female partner<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Female partner is currently less than or around 16 weeks pregnant<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Not caring for any other children or elderly in the home<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">No history of neurological disorders, alcohol and substance use disorders, and psychiatric illnesses\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span dir=\"ltr\">At each visit we collect a saliva sample, perform a blood draw, measure BMI and ask participants to complete an online survey. Over the course of the study we will track cortisol, testosterone, vasopressin, and oxytocin to observe any hormone fluctuations over time.
