Alma Project Update #8

Since the last update, many FAWG team members, other library staff, and ExLibris staff have continued to test and configure Alma and Primo in anticipation of our December 16 go live.

In addition, team members have worked with ExLibris to identify freeze dates for tech services functions and circulation:

Tech Services/Cataloging Freeze: end of business November 25, 2015 — December 16, 2015

Circulation Freeze: December 13, 2015 — December 16, 2015

During the tech services freeze, libraries can still continue to catalog with some constraints. The metadata FAWG is adapting the process we used for the Aleph migration for the Alma migration. More details in a future update.

The Alma offline circulation module will be used to complete selected circulation functions during the circulation freeze. The Alma Core Team or Library Technologies Team (Core Systems) will share details on use of the offline module. We have yet to determine how offline records will be loaded into Alma.

We are aiming to begin Alma user training the week of October 26. Emory Alma project team members have been making final edits on an Alma training plan, indicating topics, classes, instructors, etc. We also have a training calendar in development. More details next week.

If you have questions about the project or Alma, please direct them to a FAWG, Core, or Steering Team member from your library or department. See a list of teams and members, here: https://goo.gl/G9jytx. You can also send questions to me or to our project manager, Graydon Kirk (gkirk [at] emory [dot] edu).

On behalf of everyone working on the Alma project,
