DiscoverE “November Update” planned for Sunday, December 17
On Sunday, September 17, Emory’s DiscoverE service will undergo its quarterly update. The update will be applied sometime between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. EST. During the upgrade installation, there may be brief downtime (~15 minutes or less) of the DiscoverE service.
Changes in this update include improvements to ranking of results in keyword searches including authors, or authors and titles. You should see more results “by the author” or copies of the book by the author, as opposed to results “about” the author or title. If you paste in citations into a DiscoverE search box, you should also be more likely to get good results.
Other changes in this update need to be tested and will require us to make configuration changes and reprocess DiscoverE data; we plan to do this in the coming weeks and will be posting more about it when these improvements are ready.
As always, if there are any issues or concerns, please feel free to reach out and Ask A Librarian.
