Mike Mitchell, Java Developer IV, R-WIT

Our new trombone-playing Java developer.

Mike has been the Systems Team Leader in the Library for the past three years. Before Emory, he worked for six years at Florida State University as the lead software developer and a Blackboard administrator.

Mike also worked at Turner Broadcasting, where he worked as a web editor for the CNN newsroom. He eventually became the newsroom Webmaster, including coordinating the coverage of the Bush/Gore election night showdown. He was also assigned to SportsIllustrated.com and Nascar.com in web application development.

With a degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, Mike started his career as a trombone-playing music major. Before Tech he attended the Navy School of Music and was stationed in the Army at Ft. Benning, GA as a musician.

Born in Chicago, Mike grew up in Albany, GA.

“I am very excited. Software engineering is my first love, and I am looking forward to refocusing my career over in R-WIT,” said Mike.
