Monica comes to the Data Management team to work with clinical study data after spending seven years at the Stanford Center for Biomedical Informatics Research at Stanford University, first as a post-doctoral researcher then as a research scientist in the Protégé Team. Monica’s professional expertise is in ontology modeling, knowledge engineering, computer-assisted problem solving and semantic web technologies, in particular for biomedical applications.
Born in Fontenay-aux-Roses, France, Monica received her Master’s degree in Engineering (Diplôme d’Ingénieur), Computer Systems Technology major, at the EPF School of Engineering (EPF Ecole d’Ingénieurs), and her Master of Science degree in Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition at the Pierre and Marie Curie University (Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI)). She then received her Ph.D. in Informatics, Artificial Intelligence at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis) and at the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA).
Fluent in French, English and in conversational Spanish, Monica has professional interests in interdisciplinary collaborations, knowledge representation and sharing, and data management and analysis. For fun, she enjoys art and reading, as well as hiking and traveling with her family.
