As the head of the newly created collections services unit, Carrie Hintz is managing the teams that deal with the arrangement and description of manuscript and archival material, rare book cataloging, and stacks management in MARBL. Before coming to Emory, Carrie spent over six years as the head of archives processing in Columbia University’s Rare Book and Manuscript Library. She also spent time as a manuscripts assistant for the Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Carrie has a master’s of information science, with a speciality in archives and records management, from the University of Michigan, as well as a bachelor’s degree in English from Kalamazoo College. She grew up in Lansing, MI.
Carries loves yoga, camping, cooking, and travel, with her favored destination being Athens, Greece, where she lived for a time.
“This is a new unit at Emory,” said Carrie about her position, “so it is exciting to think about how to reconfigure the skills we have on staff and bring people together in a new way.”
