Emory Information Security wins national award

Emory’s Duo Two Factor Authentication Project was just named Information Security Project of the Year for North America in the Academic/Public Sector Category.

The project beat out competing projects from organizations like Harvard University, the United Nations, the Cook County (Chicago) Department of Homeland Security, and others.

“I am very excited about this achievement,” said Brad Sanford, LITS Chief Information Security Officer. “This project involved massive collaboration throughout the enterprise and a lot of hard work from some very talented people.” He thanked the team this week for their efforts in making the project a success.

LITS employees who worked on the effort included Anne Marie Alexander, Chris Alexander, Danny Bridges, Joel Burke, Michael Chilcott, Mo Davidson, Darrell Durggin, Andy Efting, Gerry Hall, Rose Harris, Elliot Kendall, Graydon Kirk, Kaven Moodley, Wade Moricle, Vinh Nguyen, Daniel Palmer, James Reed, Dean Schuh, Derek Spransy, Vince Tran, Haniya Vaid, and Tom Vincent, as well as a host of other leaders and executives.

The technical lead on the project was Andy Efting and Derek Spransy was the co-lead. “I’d also like to recognize the work Graydon Kirk did as project manager,” says Sanford.
