“It’s a great place to be. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.” – U.B. Akpabio

U.B. Akpabio (pronounced ACK-pah-bee-oh) recently joined the NOC as a network technician. He previously spent 18 years at AT&T as a DSL technician, wireless network operations technician, then outside plant engineer.

Born in Cross River State, Nigeria, U.B.’s family moved to Missouri when he was four years old, then to Atlanta when he was 12. He has a bachelor’s degree in network communications management from DeVry University.

Away from work, U.B. is a basketball coach for his ten-year-old son and a softball coach for his eight-year-old daughter.

“Emory and its network are huge,” says U.B., and he hopes as he learns his way around the campus and the network, both will become smaller through his experience. “It’s a great place to be. I have a lot to learn and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.”
