Joel Harris: Office Linebacker.

Joel Harris joins the Messaging Team after doing local support for the School of Medicine at Emory for two years. He also had a year-long sting in desktop support at Wells Fargo and four years at Global Payments, where he was a systems administrator and desktop support specialist.

Additionally, Joel served in the Army as a military police officer. He was stationed in Korea and at Ft. Richardson, AK, Ft. Gillem, GA, and Ft. McPherson, GA. After considering a career in law enforcement, Joel decided that computers were a lot safer.

Born in Lynchburg, VA, Joel attended James Madison University where he played linebacker for the Dukes and earned his bachelor’s degree in computer information systems. Joel is also certified for Apple, Network+, and is a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

When he’s not working, Joel enjoys video games on his X-Box. His favorite game these days is Destiny, which he says is fun because of the teamwork and the space exploration aspects. Joel is married and has four boys who also keep him busy.

“So far the Messaging team has been a great experience,” said Joel, “and I am looking forward to continued growth at Emory.”
