On a warmer than usual December evening, the LITS staff ate, drank, and partied the evening away on the top floor of the Goizueta Business School. With “Merry Masquerade” as the party theme, many attendees wore masks and enjoyed the festivities. The event featured JJ the DJ, a wandering magician named Magic Debbie, a free photo booth, a surprise visit from Santa (or was it Perry Eidson?), karaoke, and dancing.

Catered by Emory Catering, the food was a fusion of holiday and Mardi Grad fare, with the most popular dish being the Bourbon Street Braised Short Rib with Smashed Potato. There was also a wide variety of vegetable and casserole items and several delightful desserts.

Best mask of the night goes to Abby Ellerbe, with her green mask with peacock feathers. Although there were several great singers, karaoke was won by the quartet of Andrea Goldson-Barrett, BeAnka Tate, Alex Wan, and Jamie Weems. They sang, they had choreography, they had matching, light-up feather boas!

The party organizers were Julie Braun, Stephanie Parisi, Sarah Melton, Wade Moricle, and BeAnka Tate. “We tried to find a fun mix of new party ideas with some of our favorite activities,” said one of organizers. “I think it went well.”

Magic Debbie had several tricks up her sleeve, including turning $5 into $100, various interesting card tricks, a little mind manipulation, and some foam bunnies named Atlanta and Georgia who appeared, disappeared, and multiplied. Was it slight of hand or actual teleportation?
