Library and LITS employees past and present met last month to celebrate the retirement of Linda Nodine, who retired effective March 4 after 35 years of service to Emory. The reception was held in the Woodruff Library’s Jones Room and was attended by hundreds of employees and alumni.

Speakers at the event included Rob Renner, Yolanda Cooper, and Linda Matthews, who retired as director of libraries in 2006.

Linda Nodine first began her Emory career in 1976 in what is currently known as the Rose Library, and has served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility. She has been a trainer, facilitator, planner, leader, collaborator, and personal friend and confidant to many colleagues. In her final role, Linda was the HR Manager for the LITS Division, providing a wide range of generalist HR services.

In November 2015, Linda  received a LITS Significant Contribution Award for her support to numerous librarian search committees, facilitation of revisions to the librarian contract renewal and peer review process, and for providing key leadership throughout the merger of the Library and OIT divisions.

Said Rob Renner, LITS divisional director of HR, “I deeply appreciate her professional competence, her warmth and approachability, her keen judgement, and uncompromising integrity. However, what I think I’ll remember most about Linda is the fact that she was able to perfectly balance her professionalism with a fun-loving spirit.”

Now retired, Linda plans to travel and spend quality time with her loved ones. She did graciously return to Emory to conduct a departmental retreat for LITS’ Campus and Community Relations, and do not be surprised to see her at future LITS alumni functions.
