Two LITS employees were recognized on Wednesday by Oxford Dean, Douglas Hicks, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony on the grounds of the stately college.

Jay Flanagan, manager of the Messaging Team, received a Friends of Oxford Award. Jay and his team have worked with Oxford for at least the last ten years. Not only has he been a key player to many IT projects at Oxford, he always makes sure Oxford is included early on all major enterprise IT initiatives.

Jay was nominated by Mahbuba Ferdousi, the associate dean of IT at Oxford. She and her team submitted the winning essay about Jay’s services to Oxford.

Said Dean Hicks, “Jay and his team keep Oxford apprised of LITS initiatives, and he encourages his team to be thinking of Oxford with all software roll-outs and updates. He is always available and willing to provide support– help with technology research, ideas, over and above. He has worked with different people at Oxford, including OCIT, the Dean’s Office, Financial Services, and Academic Technologies. He invites leaders from across the Oxford campus to the annual LeaderCast leader training.”

Concluded Dean Hicks, “Jay and his team support departments across the Oxford campus with OCIT as a liaison, and he helps Oxford to reach its goals.”

Unfortunately, Jay was unable to attend the event due to being at a conference, however James Reed accepted the award on his behalf.

Jessica Robinson received her 10-year service award. She joined the library staff in 2007, was promoted to coordinator of library acquisitions in 2009, received her Master of Library Science degree from the University of Alabama in 2010, and eventually became director of library finance and operations.  Said Dean Hicks, “Thank you, Jessica, for your work in these various critical roles with our faculty and students.”
