Emory Staff Fest is celebrating 40 years

Emory will be holding its 40th Annual Staff Fest on May 18, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm on the Quad, with games, music, dancing and food. Staff Fest will also have face-painting, caricature drawings, green-screen photos, a rock wall, basketball hoop, relay races, supersized Twister, corn hole, a live DJ, 70’s music with dancing on the Quad, and more.

Each year, Emory celebrates Staff Fest on the first Friday after commencement to show appreciation to Emory University staff members for the hard work and support they provide to the university year-round. To recognize this important milestone, Staff Fest is flashing back to 1978 with a 70’s theme.

LUNCH: Lunch will be provided while quantities last and serving will begin promptly at 11:30 am. Lunch will be catered by Jim ‘N Nicks and the menu includes: chopped beef brisket or pulled chicken, barbeque baked beans, potato salad, cheddar biscuits, fresh fruit, and a small dessert. The vegetarian option is a choice of a portabella mushroom sandwich or a black bean burger.

No badges or meal tickets are needed. There is only one food line for all attendees. Attendees who are in line can receive one meal per person only (you cannot pick-up a meal for a co-worker) and no extra “to go” meals will be permitted.

Beverages include an assortment of Coca-Cola products. Popcorn and ice cream will also be available on the Quad.

BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE: In order to support Emory’s sustainability goals, employees are encouraged to bring their own re-usable water bottles to Staff Fest. This will limit the amount of plastic water bottles that are disseminated. And you might even win a prize. Show your water bottle to the Sustainablity staff to enter your name into a drawing for a grand prize!

REMINDER: Staff Fest is for current Emory University staff and retirees only. Family members will not be admitted.

FUN RUN-WALK: Join your co-workers for the annual Fun Run-Walk that will kick off the day’s events. The two-mile run/walk starts at 10:30 am at Asbury Circle (registration opens at 9:30 and you need to check in by 10:15 am).

The run/walk takes place on campus and ends on the Quad where Staff Fest festivities take place. If you can’t join the run/walk, we encourage you to come out and cheer on your co-workers as they go by.

Prizes will be awarded to top finishers by age group and gender, with additional opportunities for other prizes as well. SIGN UP FOR THE FUN RUN-WALK

VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT: Put together a team, select a captain and register for the Volleyball Tournament! Only Team Captains can register their teams.

The 2018 Staff Fest Volleyball Tourney will take place from 10:30 am until 2:00 pm (refereed games).  Tourney can accommodate up to 20 teams, on two courts. Limit of 10 players per team.  SIGN UP FOR VOLLEYBALL

NOTE: Only team captains need to sign up for their team. One registration per team.
