America Recycles at Emory Point is a go green initiative brought to you by partners from the Clifton Corridors including Emory Point, Emory University, Pratt 100% Recycled, Georgia Container Inc., CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials), America’s Thrift Stores and Premier Surplus. Committed to making a green impression, reducing environmental waste and damage, the businesses have come together for the third year in a row to combat waste and champion the environment.

In the Fall of 2018, the event hosted on November 9, many residents and office-goers across the neighborhood came out and recycled several household materials. The event collected 7,350 lbs of electronic waste, 4,117 gallons of paint, 3,200 lbs of document shredding and 2,700 lbs of other household materials.

Together we can reduce, reuse and recycle. We believe every effort counts and diminishes the harmful effects on the environment.

Recyclable Materials:

Household items only. No contractor or commercial waste.

Premier Surplus: Electronics

• Personal computers and laptops
• Smoke detectors
• Cameras and video equipment
• Computer parts
• DVD players and VCR’s
• Printers, copiers, fax machines, monitors, keyboards, scanner CD’s, DVD’s, video cassettes and vinyl records
• Cell phones and telephones
• Radios, stereo equipment, speakers and game systems
• Televisions and remotes
• Printer and toner

CHaRM: Center for Hard to Recycle Materials

• Confidential document shredding
• Batteries
• Latex paint (one gallon containers or smaller, no oil or contractor paint)
• Lightbulbs (CFL and fluorescent)

American Thrift Store (CHOA): Household, Books, Clothing

• Gently worn clothing, shoes and accessories
• Furniture, dressers, tables, bed frames, sofas (No bed foam)
• Textiles and linens
• Games, toys, sporting equipment, yoga mats and bikes
• Dishes, glassware, kitchen utensils

Georgia Container: Construction Recycling

• Plastics #1-6, plastic bags, bubble wrap
• Metals – steel, tin, iron, brass, aluminum, copper including wiring, cables and cans
• Glass bottles and jars
• Paper – newsprint, magazines, junk mail, telephone books
• Flattened cardboard
• No Styrofoam
