Mary Ann Robertson is a doctoral student in the Ethics & Society program in the Graduate Division of Religion. Her work focuses on the relationship between history, memory, and ethics, with special attention to legacies of slavery and religious history in the U.S. South. Her research looks for ways to interrogate and transform how antebellum history is preserved and commemorated in historical archives, monuments and museums, popular culture and imagination, and institutions like schools and churches. Before coming to Emory, Mary Ann received an M.Div. from Union Theological Seminary in New York, and a B.A. in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia.
