You may apply to multiple programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While PhD student receive stipend support, these funds come from lab grants or fellowships to the student. Therefore it is important that students seek external funding to support their research. Not only will writing the application help  sharpen your research focus and ideas, but having a fellowship will allow you more flexibility and independence in your research.
