Research:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Baune aims to understand how the brain estimates and controls body state during goal-directed action to develop innovative assessments and treatments for neurological conditions. His research career began studying cortical reorganization following amputation and hand transplantation, leveraging expertise in neuroimaging (fMRI, EEG) and perceptuo-motor assessment to reveal how the nervous system adapts to sensory impairment. His work expanded through the development of virtual reality and motion capture assessments examining sensorimotor integration in aging and post-stroke populations. Concurrently, Dr. Baune advanced machine learning approaches using wearable accelerometry sensors to successfully classify daily activities in stroke survivors. Currently, he combines EEG with robotic behavioral assessment to investigate neural mechanisms of limb state estimation. He is extending his expertise to the study of balance control in Parkinson’s disease. By integrating neuroimaging, wearable sensors, VR\/AR, and motion capture technologies with advanced analytical approaches, his research aims to develop methods that utilize neural and behavioral information to guide interventions\u2014ultimately advancing both fundamental neuroscience understanding and precision treatment approaches for neurological conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
